McGladrey & Pullen acquires Altschuler, Melvoin and Glasser LLP
Acquisition positions growing organization as third largest accounting firm in Chicagoland area
Bloomington, Minn., Nov. 15, 2006 – McGladrey & Pullen LLP, a leading audit and accounting firm to midsized businesses, recently announced it has acquired Altschuler, Melvoin and Glasser, LLP (AM&G) a Chicago-based CPA firm. AM&G previously had an alternative practice structure with American Express Tax and Business Services (TBS), which was acquired by RSM McGladrey on Oct. 1, 2005.
The acquisition, which was completed Nov. 1, makes McGladrey & Pullen and RSM McGladrey the third largest accounting, tax and business consulting firm in the Chicagoland area with seven offices and more than 1,200 employees. McGladrey & Pullen and RSM McGladrey have an alternative practice structure. When considered together, the two organizations rank as the fifth largest accounting, tax and business consulting firm in the United States with annual revenues of more than $1 billion and more than 8,000 employees in more than 120 offices.

Founded in 1923, AM&G provides industry-focused audit services to midsized private and public companies, including distribution and wholesale companies, education institutions, manufacturers, food service companies, not-for-profit organizations, associations and financial services and real estate firms. As a result of the acquisition, 60 partners and 63 directors will join McGladrey & Pullen.
