McGladrey & Pullen, LLP partner named chair of industry ethics panel

The American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) has named Bruce Webb, a partner in McGladrey & Pullen's National Office of Audit & Accounting, chair of its Professional Ethics Executive Committee.

Webb, who served on the Professional Ethics Executive Committee (PEEC) from 1998-2001 and the Auditing Standards Board from 2000-03, will lead the panel as it sets professional standards in ethics and independence and disciplines AICPA members who violate the institute's code of professional conduct.

"The Professional Ethics Executive Committee plays a vital role in sustaining public trust in our profession," says William D. Travis, managing partner of McGladrey & Pullen. "We strongly believe that it is up to the profession to set the tone and to directly and openly address issues and challenges. We are pleased that an outstanding professional such as Bruce Webb will have the opportunity to participate in the important work of the PEEC."

Webb, who works in the firm's Des Moines office, joined McGladrey & Pullen in 1970. As national director of auditing, he is responsible for development, implementation and monitoring of the firm's audit and independence policies.

The 340,000-member AICPA is the national professional organization for all Certified Public Accountants.
