McGladrey & Pullen LLP partner appointed to GAO advisory committee

The U.S. Government Accounting Office (GAO) has named Brian A. Schebler, McGladrey & Pullen director of public sector services, to its Advisory Council on Government Auditing Standards. The 30-member Council provides advice and guidance on government auditing standards.

In making the appointment David M. Walker, controller general of the U.S. and head of the GAO said, “Government auditing is a key element in fulfilling the government’s duty to be accountable to the public, and these standards provide a framework to auditors so their work can lead to improved government management, decision making, oversight and accountability.”

Schebler also serves on the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) State and Local Government Industry Expert Panel and the AICPA Governmental Audit Quality Center Executive Committee.

Schebler joined McGladrey & Pullen in 1981. He currently oversees the firm’s government and not-for-profit audit practice.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in Accounting from St. Ambrose University in Davenport, Iowa.
