McGladrey & Pullen has awarded Lynne Gummo, a partner in the firm's Bethesda, Md., office, its top honor: 2003 partner of the year. Gummo, a general services partner who focuses on government contracting, won because she embodies all of the firm's values: client focused, excellence, integrity, respect and teamwork. Clients praised Gummo's work, citing her attentiveness, enthusiasm, business acumen, singular focus on the bottom line and professionalism. "Lynne's passion for ensuring our clients' success and her experience as a trusted business advisor is simply outstanding," says Mike Kirley, senior vice president for economic units. "Clients continually rave about the added business value that Lynne and her team provides." Gummo, who joined McGladrey & Pullen when her firm merged in December 2000, says the key to her success is to understand clients. "I take time to really learn where clients want to go," Gummo says. "As clients learn more about our firm, they'll see just how much we can do for them." McGladrey & Pullen also named two finalists for partner of the year: Bill Major, who works in the international tax practice in Schaumburg, Ill.; and Don Natenstadt, a tax partner in Irvine, Calif.
